 | Cameron Lange I grew up surfing in the North County of San Diego. I had always been an adventurous and outdoorsy child, and surfing seemed a natural extension of these interests. And though my interests have led me to other sports – mainly rock climbing, mountaineering, and white water rafting – surfing remains my first and truest passion. To me, surfing has a depth to it that other sports seem to lack. I consider it more than a hobby or sport, it is a daily discipline that keeps me grounded and healthy. I am similarly passionate about teaching. Working with novices, one is reminded of the simple joys of the sport. By teaching surfing, or anything for that matter, one must see the sport through fresh eyes, from a beginner’s perspective. Aspects of the sport that are long familiar suddenly seem fresh, new and exciting. Watching students progress in the sport is similarly fulfilling. As they say, happiness is best shared. |
