Things to do Memorial Day Weekend (in San Diego)

There isn’t a better time to kick off summer than Memorial Day Weekend. Families and friends enjoy backyard barbecues, beach bonfires, and  even a pick up football game. San Diego Surf School gives you their top five list of activities for the 3 day weekend: What To Do for Memorial Day Top Five 1. Picnic at Kate Sessions Park- a scenic park located at the start of Mount Soledad which overlooks Mission Bay, Downtown, Pacific Beach, Ocean Peach, and Point Loma. Beautiful area filled with grass, picnic tables, and barbecues. 2. Take a surf lesson- whether it’s your first time or 100th time surfing, San Diego Surf School offers many options for surfing. Choose an hour and 1.5/hr lesson with a private instructor and head out for an epic time. Besides, their is no better time to get in the water than the start of summer! 3, Beach Cruiser Ride Down the Boardwalk- (I should add + ice cream at Big Kahunas). San Diego Surf School offers bike rentals for $15/day!!! The best deal in town, not to mention we are at the start of the board walk. Head straight down Law Street and ride your way towards Mission Beach and stop by the Roller coaster, or grab some ice cream at Big Kahunas (located on the boardwalk). We have bikes for everyone, including the kids, baskets and locks! 4. Stand Up Paddle Board in the Bay-Eager to get on the water and try something completely different: San Diego Surf School SUP boards and rentals are available all weekend long. We will drop off the SUP boards at then end of Cass St at the Bay (next to the Catamaran) where you can circle the bay, or even stop at Barefoot Bar and Grill to grab lunch and then make your way back. The water and conditions for SUP boarding the bay are outstanding this weekend. Rentals $35/half day; $70/day and 1/hr lessons $75/hr.  5.  Good Ol’Fashion BBQ-Memorial Day just can’t be the same without throwing a burger on the grill.
